Ketil Haugsand, emeritierter Professor für Cembalo an der Hochschule für Musik zu Köln, zählt zu den bedeutenden Cembalisten und Persönlichkeiten der Alten Musik der Gegenwart.
Er trat bei zahlreichen renommierten Festivals und Konzertreihen in den meisten europäischen Ländern, den USA, Israel und Fernost auf, sowohl als Solist, Kammermusiker, Cembalist als auch als Dirigent, unter anderem mit dem Norwegischen Barockorchester, dem Norwegischen Radioorchester, dem Stavanger Symphonieorchester, dem Lyra Barockorchester, dem Arte Real Ensemble und an der Komischen Oper Berlin.
Zu seinen wichtigen Kammermusikpartnern zählten unter anderem Laurence Dreyfus, Wieland Kuijken, Richard Gwilt und Peter Holtslag. Seine CD-Einspielungen mit Werken von Jean-Baptiste Antoine Forqueray, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Louis Marchand, Carlos Seixas, João Sousa Carvalho und anderen, erschienen bei Simax Classics, Virgin Veritas und Linn Records, haben international große Anerkennung gefunden. Besonders seine Interpretationen der Clavierübungen von J. S. Bach, allen voran der Goldberg-Variationen, gelten als höchst originell und wegweisend, sowie die sechs Englischen Suiten von Bach und die Gesamteinspielung von Jean-Philippe Rameaus Pièces de Clavecin.
Der in Norwegen geborene Musiker studierte bei Gustav Leonhardt am Amsterdamer Konservatorium, wo er 1975 mit dem begehrten Prix d’Excellence ausgezeichnet wurde. Später gewann er Preise bei internationalen Cembalowettbewerben in Paris und Brûges und war von 1974 bis 1995 Professor für Cembalo und Kammermusik an der Norwegischen Staatlichen Musikakademie in Oslo.
Prof. Haugsand, ein gefragter Cembalolehrer, einer der erfahrensten im akademischen Bereich, gab regelmäßig Sommerkurse in Norwegen, Portugal und Italien und wurde häufig als Jurymitglied zu internationalen Cembalo-wettbewerben eingeladen.
