Jonathan Pesek ist Violoncellist und spielt auf barocken und klassischen Instrumenten, ganz nach der Natur der Klangrede, die er seinem Publikum mitteilen will. Als leidenschaftlicher Interpret stellt er sich den ästhetischen Fragen von Kreation, Ausdruck und historischer Genauigkeit. Von seiner aussergewöhnlichen Ausbildung unterstützt, strebt er danach, neu durchdachte und sorgfältig abgewogene Antworten beizutragen.
Jonathan Pesek ist ein gefragter Solist, Kammermusiker und Continuospieler bei La Cetra Basel, Il Gusto Barocco, Il Profondo, Musica Fiorita, Concerto Köln, La Scintilla, Capriccio, Ensemble Inégal, Collegium 1704, Collegium Marianum, Freitagsakademie und den Deutschen Händelsolisten. Er spielt ebenfalls Viola da gamba, Basse de Violon und Kontrabass. Sein Forschungsgebiet ist die Generalbass-Realisierung auf dem Violoncello.
Als Mitgründer mehrerer Ensembles für Alte Musik wie l'Ornamento , Il Profondo, Il Gusto Barocco gestaltet er mit dem Ensemble I Pizzicanti gemeinsam mit Chani und Nadja Lesaulnier die Konzertreihe "Musik kommt zu Ihnen" in Baselland und Solothurn. Zahlreiche Einspielungen bei Labels wie Pan Classics, Nibiru, Mirare, SWR und Deutsche Grammophon, darunter Ersteinspielungen von Werken J.D. Zelenkas. Bei Ars Produktion sind zwei CDs mit l'Ornamento erschienen, den Komponisten Händel, Telemann, Fasch und Vivaldi gewidmet.
Gemeinsam mit l'Ornamento ist Jonathan 1. Preisträger und Träger des Publikumspreises des Wettbewerbs Musica Antiqua Brügge 2003.
Bei seinem Studium an der Schola Cantorum in Basel erhält er wichtige Impulse von J.B. Christensen, G. Türk, C. Banchini und J.-A. Bötticher und studiert in der Klasse von C. Coin. Nach seinem Solisten-Diplom im Jahr 2008 vertieft Jonathan Pesek seine Ausbildung bei Balázs Máté. An der Musikhochschule Freiburg unterrichtet Jonathan Pesek von 2010-2017 und ist Professor für Barockcello, Generalbass und Kammermusik an der HMDK Stuttgart (2013 bis 2018). Er ist Dozent der Internationalen Händel-Akademie Karlsruhe 2016, der Sommerkurse im Kloster Michaelstein 2018 und der Sommerakademie Neuburg a. d. Donau 2019.

Jonathan Pesek is a sought-after soloist, chamber musician and continuo player with La Cetra Basel, Il Gusto Barocco, Il Profondo, Musica Fiorita, Concerto Köln, La Scintilla, Capriccio, Ensemble Inégal, Collegium 1704, Collegium Marianum, Freitagsakademie and the Deutsche Händelsolisten. He also plays viola da gamba, basse de violon and double bass. His field of research is the realisation of the basso continuo on the violoncello.
As co-founder of several early music ensembles such as l'Ornamento, Il Profondo and Il Gusto Barocco, he organises the concert series "Musik kommt zu Ihnen" in Baselland and Solothurn with the ensemble I PIzzicanti together with Chani and Nadja Lesaulnier. Numerous recordings on labels such as Pan Classics, Nibiru, Mirare, SWR and Deutsche Grammophon, including world premiere recordings of works by J.D. Zelenka. Ars Produktion has released two CDs with l'Ornamento, dedicated to the composers Handel, Telemann, Fasch and Vivaldi.
Together with l'Ornamento, Jonathan won the first prize and the audience prize at the Musica Antiqua Bruges competition in 2003.
